Space exploration is a popular theme at Little Loft. We have featured this theme for birthday celebrations, camps and toddler classes. The projects ideas are as almost as vast as the universe. With all of the glittery, fluorescent, shiny materials available to capture our visitor's creative spirit we keep going back to the heavens again and again. Here are some recent spacetastic works of art.....
Gel markers, glitter glue and self portraits inspired our artist's to create their own solar systems.
One was filled with swirly planets while the other featured newly acquired star drawing skills.
This is a fun two day project. On the first day we use a squeeze bottle with a mixture of glue and black tempera paint. Two thirds of a standard glue bottle mixed with one third black tempera/acrylic should do the trick. A great way to repurpose the end of that glue bottle! We let the black outlines dry overnight and watercolor over the dried glue the next day.
These fanciful planets took on a life of their own when we added a popsicle stick to the back. They swirled around, chased each other and finally rested in their night sky background when it was time to go home. A texturized paper making session gave some depth to their night scene.
